Job Summary

Newly created role; shape and define the Grid function
Aiming to deliver 6GW of new energy capacity across Australia
Base yourself out of Newcastle (Head Office), Sydney or Melbourne

Job Description

Your New Company:

Play a pivotal role in the success of a dynamic, growing Australian renewable energy company backed by the world’s largest dedicated greenfield clean energy investor.

Voyager Renewables, established by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), aren’t afraid of big challenges and are here to grow the Australian energy sector with new large-scale wind, solar and BESS solutions that will deliver tangible benefits to the regions.

Voyager is growing fast, aiming to deliver 6GW of new energy capacity across Australia over the next decade. As the Grid Manager you can be part of this journey, joining a fun and collaborative team, contributing to high-impact projects that will shape the future Australian energy landscape.

Your New Role:

This newly created role will provide you with the opportunity to shape and define the Grid function within Voyager. You will drive the end-to-end grid connection process for the company’s growing portfolio of high-quality wind, solar and BESS projects, from early-stage origination through to testing and commissioning.

In spearheading Voyager’s connection strategy and playing a critical role in the long-term success of the business, key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting project origination by assessing the viability of connection options and identifying suitable locations for new projects.
• Supporting project development by managing the connection process and approvals.
• Managing technical consultants to provide required studies and modelling.
• Engaging with NSPs and AEMO to negotiate optimised connection strategies for projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient connections.
• Supporting project design and technology selection analysis, providing technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Keeping up to date with industry best practice and technological advancements to provide innovative solutions to grid compliance challenges.
You can be based out of either their Newcastle, Sydney or Melbourne offices, with hybrid work arrangements available.

Your Experience:

You will be self-motivated, outcomes driven and comfortable managing multiple priorities. With a willingness to roll your sleeves up and get into the detail when needed, you will also bring:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, with CPEng/RPEQ a plus.
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience working in grid connections within project development, NSP or consulting environments.
• Strong technical understanding of NEM, AEMO and Australian grid code requirements.
• An understanding of GPS, R0/R1/R2 submissions and industry-standard grid modelling tools.
• An ability to manage external consultants for the delivery of design and study packages.
